In addition to the 8 Standing Committees of the WFNS, there are nearly 30 ad hoc Committees. Since we are now one year into the COVID-19 pandemic, it is a good time to learn how the activities of the various ad hoc Committees have adapted to the pandemic.

Complications in Neurosurgery Committee Report

Two highly successful and impressive International Conferences on Complications in Neurosurgery (1st and 2nd ICCN) were conducted in March 2017 and January 2019, respectively. Reflecting on the kind of response obtained at these meetings it became amply clear that Neurosurgeons from across the world, from the very young (including residents-in-training) to the senior-most (even retired professors) regarded this as a breakthrough in Neurosurgery.

Global Neurosurgery Committee Report

The Global Neurosurgery Committee (GNC) was created with the aim of aligning and coordinating the global neurosurgery activities of the different committees of the WFNS in order to foster collaborative and synergistic efforts. WFNS, as well as many other neurosurgical societies and organizations, has been actively involved in promoting and supporting global neurosurgery, and the goal of the GNC is to identify all the various stakeholders involved, develop partnerships, and coordinate their activities under the WFNS umbrella.

Mass Casualty Committee Report

Skull Base Committee Report

Despite the pandemic year, the Skull Base Committee and the North American Skull Base Society, the Brazilian Society of Neurosurgery (SBN), the Latin-American Federation of Neurosurgical Societies (FLANC), the Mexican Society of Neurological Surgery, the Argentinian Association of Neurosurgery and Ircad-Strasbourg have organized several webinars, which reached a large number of neurosurgeons all over the world.
